Description

Easy Chia Seed Jam – an absolutely delicious and easy recipe for chia jam. Packed with nutrition and perfect for your next pb&j!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fruit (blackberries, raspberries or strawberries)
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon zest, minced
  • 12 tablespoon real maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients in a medium sauce pan.
  2. Mash down berries with a fork or potato masher.
  3. Bring to medium heat, turning down as-needed, while allowing the berries to heat up and start to break down.
  4. Once berries are broken down and mushy (takes about 5-7 minutes) and everything is combined, let simmer gently for 5 more minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool. The jam will continue to thicken during this time.
  6. Once it is cool, transfer to a mason jar (or other sealable container) and store in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Strawberries: if using strawberries I would recommend chopping them first so they break down faster.
  • Maple Syrup: feel free to use more or less, depending upon how sweet you want your jam. You can substitute honey for this if you want.
  • Storage: chia seed jam stores in your fridge in a sealed mason jar for up to a week or two.
