Description

Our easy and simple Onion Jam recipe is made with simple, real ingredients like coconut sugar and balsamic vinegar!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 sweet yellow onions, sliced and quartered
  • 1/2 cup coconut sugar
  • 12 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
  • pinch of kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Add oil to large cast iron skillet; bring to medium-high heat.
  2. Add sliced onions and let cook until golden-brown; about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Add sugar and let melt before stirring.
  4. Move onions around while they turn a dark brown color – about another 5-6 minutes.
  5. Stir in balsamic vinegar, lemon zest and pinch of salt; stir until nice and thick.
  6. Taste and add any additional sugar, as-desired.
