Description

How to Make Croutons – an easy, simple recipe for homemade croutons that turns out perfectly every time! Perfect for soups or salads!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 large pieces of bread
  • 12 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Cut up bread into 1 inch by 1 inch sized pieces.
  3. Place in a bowl and drizzle with olive oil; toss to coat.
  4. Sprinkle in salt and seasoning; toss to coat.
  5. Place on baking sheet and bake, middle rack, for 15-20 minutes turning halfway.
  6. Let cool and then use in your favorite soups and salads (we love them in this Tomato Basil Soup and this Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad).

Notes

  • Type of Bread: feel free to use whatever type you want – we used sourdough in the photos and they turned out SO GOOD!
  • Different Seasonings: feel free to play around with the seasoning and use some garlic powder or anything else that sounds good!
  • Storage: These croutons will last for about a week in an airtight container, but they definitely taste their best in the first 2-3 days.
