Description

Our go-to Turkey Baste Recipe is simple, flavorful and perfect for your Thanksgiving turkey, no matter how you plan to cook it!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 tablespoons butter
  • 24 tablespoons chicken broth (or turkey broth)
  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced or grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley leaves

Instructions

  1. Combine: Combine ingredients in a medium saucepan and bring to a medium-high heat.
  2. Melt Butter: Let butter melt; stir to combine. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Baste: Use a basting brush or turkey baster to baste turkey with basting mixture every 30-45 minutes, resulting in a moist turkey.

Notes

  • Size Turkey: this recipe, as written, works great for an approx. 12-14 lb turkey, but you can easily double it, if needed. You can always stretch this recipe a bit more by just adding in a few more splashes of broth or another tablespoon of butter. It’s a super flexible recipe.
  • Make Ahead: feel free to make the basting mixture ahead of time then place in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheat before using.
  • Basting too often: you don’t want to baste more than every 30-40 minutes as every time you open the oven you let quite a bit of heat out.
