Ingredients
1½litersred winetwo bottles - we used cabernet sauvignon
½gallonapple cider
½cupfresh cranberries
½cupreal maple syrup
2cinnamon sticks
1applethickly sliced
1orangethickly sliced
2-3star anise
Instructions
Combine: In a slow cooker, add 1½ liters red wine, ½ gallon apple cider, ½ cup fresh cranberries, ½ cup real maple syrup, 2 cinnamon sticks, sliced apple, sliced orange, and 2-3 star anise. Mix to combine.
Warm: Cover and turn on the LOW setting. Once warm, it can sit in the slow cooker on the warm setting all day, the flavors will just continue to meld as it sits.
Serve: Ladle into mugs and garnish to enjoy!
Notes
Flavor Options: whole cloves and nutmeg can also be added.
Sweetness: to increase, add additional maple syrup 1 tablespoon at a time.
Half the Recipe: feel free to cut in half using 1 bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, 4 cups apple cider and 1/4 cup real maple syrup. We used a large slow cooker and it was pretty full so if yours is smaller/rounder, you definitely might need to halve it!
