Description
Learn how to make a baked potato on the grill with this super easy recipe! The perfect side dish for any grilled dinner!
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 small/medium russet potatoes
- extra virgin olive oil
- kosher salt and ground black pepper
- for serving: sour cream, butter, chives, and seasoned salt
Instructions
- Preheat grill to a medium-high heat (400-450 degrees F).
- Wash potatoes, poke a few holes in each one with a fork, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Double wrap each potato individually in aluminum foil.
- Place directly on the grill grates and close the grill lid. Let cook for approx. 45-60 minutes (or until internal temp reaches 210 degrees F), but total cook time will depend upon the size/width of your potatoes.
- Remove from grill and serve with your favorite baked potato toppings to create an ultimate loaded baked potato!
Notes
- Pre-Cook: you *can* precook these in the microwave (poke with fork, microwave for about 4 minutes on HIGH wrapped in a damp paper towel) before following the directions above to shorten the cook time a little bit.
- Large Potatoes: if you have larger russet potatoes then I would definitely recommend microwaving beforehand to shorten the total cook time.
- Storage: any leftover potatoes can be taken out of the foil and stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Simply reheat in the microwave.
