Our easy and simple
Onion Jam
recipe is made with simple, real ingredients like coconut sugar and balsamic vinegar!
Ingredients

cup
extra virgin olive oil
▢
2
sweet yellow onions
sliced and quartered
▢
1/2
cup
coconut sugar
▢
1-2
tablespoons
balsamic vinegar
▢
1/2
teaspoon
lemon zest
▢
pinch
of kosher salt
Instructions
Add oil to large cast iron skillet; bring to medium-high heat.
Add sliced onions and let cook until golden-brown; about 15-20 minutes.
Add sugar and let melt before stirring.
Move onions around while they turn a dark brown color - about another 5-6 minutes.
Stir in balsamic vinegar, lemon zest and pinch of salt; stir until nice and thick.
Taste and add any additional sugar, as-desired.
Notes
Coconut sugar
: you can use regular, granulated sugar or cane sugar, if you prefer.
Storage
: store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
