Description

Smoked Onions – an easy + simple smoked onions recipe that is the perfect addition to your favorite burger or salad recipe!


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sweet yellow onion
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat smoker to 225 degrees F. and ensure grill grates are clean.
  2. Slice onion into 1/4-1/2 inch slices. 
  3. Brush both sides with olive oil and sprinkle with some kosher salt.
  4. Place sliced onions directly on the grill grates and close the lid.
  5. Smoke for 45-60 minutes and then remove.
  6. Optional Sear: if you want to get a nice char on your onions after smoking, sear them on the smoker at 500 degrees F (or you can do this in a cast iron skillet or gas grill). 
  7. Use onions in our French Onion Dip or on your favorite burger!
