Cozy Hot Buttered Rum is a warm, comforting cocktail for the holidays!

Aaaaaah. Cozy Hot Buttered Rum. The sound of it reminds me of a Werthers Original. That buttery goodness. Warm, soothing and with just the right amount of alcohol to warm you up from the inside. It is the perfect drink for your holiday party or an after-dinner treat next to the fire. This is a must-try for your next holiday get-together!
Have you ever tried one of these before? I didn’t know what I was missing! I am usually not a huge rum person, but this is like the equivalent of rum hot chocolate. Yes, please.
You first take whatever mug you want to drink out of and add butter, cinnamon, brown sugar, nutmeg, and a little pinch of ground cloves, splash of vanilla and a pinch of salt. Add a shot of dark rum and some water. Mix well and then add a cinnamon stick and some whipped cream on top. Sprinkle with cinnamon and/or nutmeg.
Then cozy up next the fire with yourself, your dog, your cat, your significant other and, in my world, you would watch Love Actually with your Christmas tree lights twinkling 🙂 Doesn’t that sound amazing! Yes. Yes, it does.
I love this recipe because you can easily make it your own. Want it sweeter – add more brown sugar. Don’t want so much buttery-ness, pull back on the butter. Make it to your liking and savor the yumminess.
Serve with Classic White Chocolate Dipped Christmas Cookies!!!

Description
Hot Buttered Rum – a classic, delicious and cozy winter cocktail that warms you through and through! And so easy to make!
Ingredients
- 1–2 Tablespoons butter
- 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/2 Teaspoon cinnamon
- pinch of ground cloves (about 1/8 Teaspoon)
- 1/2 Teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 Teaspoon vanilla
- 1 shot of dark rum
- 8 oz boiling water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Whipped Cream
Instructions
- In large mug, add butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, vanilla and rum.
- Pour boiling water on top and stir thoroughly.
- Add cinnamon stick.
- Cover with whipped cream
- Sprinkle with nutmeg and or cinnamon.
- Serve immediately.
