Tips on Stocking your Pantry

A helpful list for making sure your pantry is adequately stocked!

Here is a nice, comprehensive list of pantry essentials for you guys to help you make sure you pantry is stocked!  A few notes:

1. You don’t need it all: Don’t feel like you need to have every single one of these items! Especially if you just know you won’t use them.  This is simply a list of commonly used pantry items that I use in recipes quite a bit and always seem to have on hand.
2. Seasons: some are definitely seasonal. The broth and soup for example – use a lot more in winter cooking so if it is summer for you right now, maybe don’t worry too much about those – although they are helpful for making sauces!
3. Buy in Bulk: it is so much more cost effective to buy from the bulk section!
4. Store in Mason Jars: I store a lot of my baking items in mason jars and then label them with the ingredient!  It just keeps my shelves a little cleaner and more organized!
5. Keep a running list: Try and keep a running list of what you do have on hand so that you run to the grocery store you can easily grab what you need to re-stock!
6. Recipes you make a lot: Think about recipes that you make all the time (See: Oatmeal Bake and Butternut Squash Soup for me!) and make sure you always have those items on hand
