The Best Yum Yum Sauce Recipe
For years, we have been going to our local Japanese hibachi restaurants for all the best hibachi food and, of course, it is always served with a signature sauce! Who knows what is in those Japanese restaurants and store-bought versions from the local grocery store, so we had to make our own. And trust us, this homemade Japanese yum yum sauce does not disappoint! Plus, you can pronounce all the ingredients and probably already have them in your kitchen. It is called yum-yum sauce for one main reason… so good and perfect for a fun hibachi night at home!

What You Will Need
- mayonnaise – just pick-up your favorite one from the local grocery stores to use as the main ingredient of this dipping sauce.
- ketchup – added for a little bit of flavor and sweetness.
- sugar – option to sub with coconut sugar for a touch of sweet in this popular sauce.

How To Make Yum Yum Sauce
The first steps to making this easy recipe are to gather all of the basic ingredients.
Place all of the hibachi sauce ingredients in a medium bowl and mix to combine.
Use immediately or store in a squirt bottle or airtight container in the fridge. If your yummy sauce has a creamy texture but is a bit thick, you can add a small amount of water to thin it out.
Best Ways To Use Yum Yum Sauce
There are a few different ways to use this delicious yum yum sauce! We love to add a generous amount to our chicken hibachi, steak hibachi, or even some simple hibachi noodles. It would also be great as a dipping sauce for some hibachi vegetables, fried shrimp, or grilled steak! And if you like a little spice in your life, add a sprinkling of cayenne pepper for that kick of heat.

Notes
- Ketchup/Sweetness: for reference we used Simply Heinz to test and develop this recipe – if you use a no-sugar added ketchup, such as a Primal Kitchen, just know the resulting flavor will obviously not be as sweet either.
- *Granulated Sugar: feel free to sub in some coconut sugar for the granulated sugar, just be aware the color may look a little different due to the dark brown coloring of the coconut sugar.
- Make it Spicy: feel free to add in a little cayenne pepper to add a little kick and make a more spicy yum yum sauce!
