How To Make Smoked Deviled Eggs
The first steps to making this easy recipe is to place the whole eggs, in a single layer, on the hot grill grates of the smoker at 325 degrees F for 30-35 minutes. Then transfer the hard-boiled eggs to an ice water bath. Peel the egg shell off each egg and place them on a small sheet pan. Place the entire pan of peeled eggs back on the smoker at 190 degrees F for 10 minutes.
Take the smoked eggs off the smoker and cut each one in half, lengthwise. Pop the egg yolk out of each egg white and place them in a large bowl. Add the mayo, salt, pepper, dijon mustard, yellow mustard, pickle juice, and vinegar to the egg yolks and mix to fully combine.
Now use a spoon or piping bag to put the egg yolk mixture into each of the boiled egg white halves. Great options for garnish are a sprinkling of paprika, fresh dill, and/or fresh chives.
Best Way To Serve Smoked Deviled Eggs
We typically serve these smoked deviled eggs with a generous amount of smoked paprika and some fresh dill or fresh chives on top. If you like a little kick of heat, you can also add some hot sauce! Garnish any way you want and then serve up this classic appetizer at a potluck or before a family event or holiday dinner!
Recipe FAQs
- How to cook deviled eggs? In this recipe card, we used our pellet smoker to make smoked eggs and turn them into deviled eggs. You can also make air fryer hard boiled eggs, Instant Pot hard boiled eggs, or hard boiled eggs in the oven.
- How long does it take to smoke eggs in a smoker? At 325 degrees F, it takes about 30-35 minutes to fully cook eggs. We highly recommend peeling these eggs and returning them to the smoker at 190 degrees F for an additional 10 minutes to help amplify that smoky flavor.
- How can you make deviled eggs a day ahead? Simply cook the eggs, cut in half, make the egg yolk mixture, and then place that mixture in an airtight container in the fridge until the next day. The egg whites can also be kept in the fridge. Just add the filling to the egg whites when ready to serve and garnish!

Description
Our delicious Smoked Deviled Eggs recipe adds some smokey flavor to that classic deviled eggs recipe that we all know and love!
Ingredients
- 12 whole, fresh eggs
- 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1/4 – 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- pinch of ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 3–4 teaspoons pickle juice (recommend bread & butter pickle juice)
- 1/2 teaspoon white vinegar
- toppings: paprika, dill leaves, or fresh chives
Instructions
- Prep: Preheat smoker to 325 degrees F.
- Smoke: Place eggs directly on the grill grates of the preheated smoker and let eggs smoke for 30-35 minutes. Transfer eggs to an ice bath (large bowl of ice and cold water) to cool for a few minutes, then peel the shell off each egg. Place peeled eggs on a small baking sheet and return to smoker at 190 degrees F for about 10 minutes. To drop the temperature of the smoker quickly, simply open the lid for a few minutes. Carefully remove the tray of eggs from the smoker.
- Egg Yolks: Now use a sharp knife to cut each egg in half, lengthwise. Use a small spoon to pop out the yolks and place them in a medium bowl. Set the egg whites aside.
- Combine: Add mayo, 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, pepper, dijon mustard, yellow mustard, pickle juice, and white vinegar to the mixing bowl with the egg yolks. Stir to combine, with the option of using an electric hand mixer to make the mixture really smooth. Give the mixture a taste and adjust salt, mayo, or pickle juice, as desired.
- Fill Eggs: Spoon the egg yolk mixture into the halved egg whites.
- Serve: Garnish deviled eggs with fresh chives or dill and paprika. Enjoy immediately!
