It’s that time of year again!
Every year we all head to the apple orchard and pick an obscene amount of apples (don’t we all!?) and every year we make this apple crisp recipe (my girls know it by heart now) … and every year it is amazing. So excited to finally get it up on the blog for all of you!

Description
Healthy Apple Crisp – a delicious apple crisp recipe that gluten-free, dairy-free and made with simple, real ingredients!
Ingredients
- 4 large honey crisp apples (see notes)
- 1 cup Bob’s Red Mill Gluten-Free Oats
- 1/2 cup Bob’s Red Mill Gluten-Free Flour
- 3/4 cup Bob’s Red Mill Coconut Sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- pinch of kosher salt
- 1/2 cup vegan butter, room temp
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Peel apples, cut into 1/4 inch thick slices (removing core).
- Spray a 9×9 baking pan with olive oil and layer apples inside.
- Add oats, flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, kosher salt and butter to small food processor or medium-sized mixing bowl.
- Pulse until ingredients mix together well (if using a food processor) or us a fork to mix together (if using a mixing bowl). The texture should be clumpy.
- Pour mixture over apples evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes.
- Remove and let cool.
- Serve with dairy-free ice cream or dairy-free whipped cream.
- Enjoy!
Notes
- Apples: this turns out great using only honeycrisp apples, but sometimes apple crisp tastes ever better if you use 3-4 different types of apples so you have a mix of flavors. You would still use a total of 4 large apples, but feel free to use up to 4 different kinds if you want!
- Peeling Apples: If you don’t like peeling apples (who does?) then I love recommending this apple peeling attachment for a Kitchen Aid stand mixer! So nice to have!
- Baking Length: Recommended time is 30-35 minutes. If you prefer a more crisp apple in your apple crisp I would do 25 minutes or so – if you prefer a very soft apple in your apple crisp then I would do 35+ minutes!
- Vegan Butter: For vegan butter I like this kind and this kind. Substitutes include grassfed butter or ghee.
- Coconut Sugar: Substitutes include date sugar or brown sugar.
