What You Will Need
- lime wedge + kosher salt – used to create the perfect salt rim on your cocktail glass.
- ice – all the best cocktails are served over some large ice cubes.
- tequila – any variety of tequila will work, we love Jose Cuervo, Patrón, or other white tequila.
- orange liqueur – we used triple sec, but feel free to grab your favorite from your local liquor store.
- fresh lime juice – an essential ingredient in any homemade margarita recipe!
- simple syrup – a little bit for a touch of sweetness.
- leftover pickle juice – highly recommend using dill pickle juice, but bread & butter pickle juice or other variety would work too.
How To Make A Pickle Margarita
The first steps to making this easy recipe are to salt the rim of your glass. Begin by rubbing a lime wedge around the outside rim of the margarita glasses. Then add some kosher salt to a small plate and tip the glass over, set it in the salt, and turn to coat.
Now pour all of the cocktail ingredients (tequila, orange liquor, lime juice, simple syrup, and pickle juice) in a shaker, place the lid on top, and shake to combine.
Place some ice in the margarita glass and pour the cocktail over the ice.
Garnish with fresh pickles, limes, & dill!

Recipe FAQ
We love this simple dill pickle margarita recipe, but feel free to swap out the salt for tajin on the rim and toss some sliced fresh jalapeños in the glass to make it a spicy margarita.

Description
This Pickle Margarita recipe is going to surprise you! So bright and delicious and perfect for a hot summer day!
Ingredients
- lime wedge
- coarse kosher salt
- ice
- 1.5oz tequila
- 1.5oz orange liqueur
- 1oz lime juice
- 1oz simple syrup
- 2–2.5oz pickle juice
- garnish: pickle spear + fresh dill
Instructions
- Rub a lime wedge along the edge of a glass. Place some coarse kosher salt on a small plate. Flip the glass upside down and rub the rim in the salt, so it sticks to the rim of the glass.
- Flip the glass back over and add ice.
- Add tequila, orange liquor, lime juice, simple syrup, and 2oz pickle juice to a cocktail shaker. Shake to combine and pour over ice. Taste and if you want a little more pickle flavor add another .5oz of pickle juice.
- Garnish with a pickle spear and some fresh dill.
Notes
- Pickle flavor: we tested this with 1.5oz, 2oz, and 2.5oz of pickle juice. We agreed 1.5oz just wasn’t enough of a pickle taste. We LOVED 2oz and some of us loved the 2.5oz of pickle juice. For the record we also tested 3oz of pickle juice and it was just … too much pickle 🙂
- Pickle Brand: For this recipe I would highly suggest using a brand such as Claussen pickles or our homemade pickles. Something light, bright, and fresh. I wouldn’t use the brands that are artificially colored with that yellow/green color! I just don’t think it would taste the same.
