The Best Shamrock Shake Recipe
Last year I tried a sip of my daughters Shamrock shake fresh from the drive through and thought, “I’ve got to make a copycat recipe, but better.” So here we are a year later with our very own version of this iconic shake. Whether you’re a McDonald’s fan or not, this shamrock sundae is one worth making.
What You’ll Need
- vanilla bean ice cream – Make this recipe dairy-free by using a dairy-free ice cream brand.
- unsweetened almond milk – Regular whole milk is a great substitute.
- vanilla extract – Just a bit to heighten the vanilla ice cream flavor.
- green food coloring – Vary the amount to achieve a color of green that matches your personal preference.
- plain mint extract – Minty treats are one of our favorites! Peppermint extract will work, but will have a stronger peppermint flavor than mint extract which includes spearmint and peppermint.
- optional toppings – Top with whipped cream, maraschino cherries, and green sprinkles.
How To Make A Shamrock Shake
In preparation of shamrock shake season, start by visiting your local grocery store and gathering all the shake ingredients that you need. Green coloring can often sell out this time of year.
Next, place all of your ingredients into a high powered blender and blend until smooth.
Divide the mixture into two classes and top your minty milkshakes with your favorite whipped topping, a maraschino cherry, and green sprinkles and get ready to savor that classic shamrock shake flavor that you know and love.
This is a green drink that is sure to be an instant success with kiddos and grownups alike!
