What You Will Need
- fresh Brussels sprouts – We like smaller sprouts as they tend to cook quicker and are more tender than the larger variety.
- olive oil – Just a bit to help add moisture to this easy recipe.
- kosher salt & ground black pepper – The classics are the best way to bring out so much flavor in this favorite veggie.
How To Grill Brussel Sprouts
Start by preheating your grill to medium-high heat and place your grill basket on the grill to heat it up. Then prepare the sprouts by removing the loose leaves on the outer layer, trim off the stem, and half them with a sharp knife.
Next, place your prepped sprouts in a large bowl and drizzle them with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to massage the oil and seasonings into the sprouts, making sure to cover them completely.
How Long To Grill Brussel Sprouts
Cooking time depends on how large your sprouts are. Ours were on the smaller side and they cooked perfectly in 8 minutes. Larger sprouts will take a bit longer. Pour your seasoned sprouts out on your preheated grill pan and let them cook on your hot grill for 8-12 minutes, tossing occasionally.
Recipe Tip:
If you don’t have a grill basket, use a piece of foil to create a homemade “basket” by folding up the sides.
Once they’ve reached your desired softness and are a nice golden brown color, remove them from the grill. Serve immediately with your favorite main course.
And to amp up the flavor, feel free to top your grilled brussels sprouts with garlic, lemon zest, shredded parmesan, red pepper flakes, or balsamic vinegar.

Description
Grilled Brussel Sprouts (how to grill Brussel sprouts) – a simple, easy and delicious grilled brussel sprouts recipe that is the perfect summer side dish for any meal!
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 – 2 pounds brussel sprouts
- 1 tablespoon olive oil, more as needed
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt, more as desired
- 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat Grill: Bring grill up to medium-high heat. Place your grill basket on the grill to heat up*.
- Prep Brussel Sprouts: Prepare brussels sprouts by removing the outer layer, cutting off the stem and halving them. Place them in a bowl and drizzle with olive oil, add salt and pepper. Massage oil into the brussels sprouts to ensure they are fully coated.
- Grill Brussel Sprouts: Pour out brussel sprouts onto grill pan and let cook 8-12 minutes, tossing occasionally, or until they have reached your desired softness.
- Serve: Remove from grill and serve immediately with your favorite meal (we love serving these with some grilled steak and grilled potatoes!).
Notes
- *Grill Pan vs. Foil: You will definitely need to use a grill pan for the veggies – if you don’t have one use some heavy duty foil to create a homemade “basket” by folding up the sides a bit.
- Grill Time: we used smaller brussel sprouts during testing (which I prefer) and they were perfectly cooked after 8 minutes – for larger brussels sprouts it will take closer to that 10-12 minute range or longer if they are really big.
- Add-Ins: feel free to add in some garlic, lemon zest, shredded parmesan cheese or red pepper flakes!
