There have been so many nights over the years (hello newborn life) when we have called up our local Chinese restaurant to order takeout! Sometimes, it’s just necessary to hit that easy button. But it quickly gets expensive (especially these days) and who knows what ingredients are being used, so a while back we decided to create our own homemade teriyaki sauce. It is SO GOOD! And now we are adding it to everything, like our 10 minute Teriyaki Shrimp!

Be sure to see the recipe card below for a full listing of the ingredients, instructions, & estimated nutritional information.
- broccoli – an all-time favorite roasted vegetable, but feel free to use any other fresh veggie (i.e. green beans, brussel sprouts, bell peppers, etc.).
- steak – nothing beats a classic ribeye steak, but they can get expensive. Check your local grocery store or butcher shop for deals on NY strips steaks, flank steak, any cut of steak will work.
- soy sauce – used for a quick teriyaki steak marinade in this easy recipe. However, some extra teriyaki sauce could also be used or coconut aminos to keep it gluten-free.
How To Make Teriyaki Steak Bites

Begin by rubbing the broccoli in oil, seasoning with salt and pepper, and then roast in the oven.

Now, give the pieces of steak a quick marinade in soy sauce and then sear on the stove top.

Sauté the garlic in melted butter, add the teriyaki sauce, and bring the steak back to the hot pan to toss. Finish cooking and serve with the roasted broccoli.
What Should I Serve with these Steak Bites?
Make a simple dinner by serving with the broccoli and cooked rice. Option to garnish with some sesame seeds. These tender steak bites would also be great with an oven baked potato or add them to our veggie lo mein!

Recipe FAQs and Tips
- What cut of steak is best for teriyaki? Typically a good sirloin steak, ribeye steak, or flank steak are great options for making steak teriyaki. Any of these cuts of beef will readily absorb the teriyaki sauce and render some fat to keep them nice & juicy.
- Looking for a dry rub instead of a marinade? A simple dry rub is another great way to add flavor, try our Steak Dry Rub recipe!
- Can I cook teriyaki steak on the grill instead? Yes, teriyaki steak can be cooked on the grill but the steak bites should be put on skewers to keep them together and make cooking easier. Brush teriyaki sauce on the steak bites during the last 5 minutes on the grill and then serve with more sauce on top.

Description
Our flavor-packed Teriyaki Steak Bites are so easy to make and served up with roasted broccoli on a bed of rice!
Ingredients
Roasted Broccoli:
- 1 pound fresh broccoli florets
- 1–2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- kosher salt and ground black pepper
Teriyaki Steak Bites:
- 2 pounds ribeye steak, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1/3 cup soy sauce (sub with tamari or coconut aminos)
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter (regular or plant-based)
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 cups teriyaki sauce, divided (homemade teriyaki sauce or store-bought)
Serving Suggestion:
- 4 cups cooked rice of your choice
- optional garnish: sesame seeds
Instructions
- Prep: Preheat the oven to 415 degrees F.
- Roast Broccoli: Put the broccoli florets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Toss and spread out on the sheet pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes.
- Prep Steak: Meanwhile, pat the pieces of steak dry with paper towels. Place them in a large bowl or storage bag with 1/3 cup soy sauce to marinate for 15-30 minutes.
- Cook Steak Bites: Bring a large cast iron skillet to a medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon olive oil to coat the bottom of the pan. Once hot, sear the steak bites on all sides. After searing all sides, remove the steak to a plate. Depending on the size of the skillet, this may need to be done in batches.
- Finish in Garlic + Teriyaki Sauce: Return the skillet to a medium heat and add butter to melt. Sauté 1 tablespoon of minced garlic until fragrant. Add 1 cup teriyaki sauce and mix. Then add the steak bites back to the hot pan (along with any juices that settle on the plate) and toss to coat all the pieces in sauce. Continue tossing and cooking until they reach your desired doneness. A medium-rare finish will have an internal temperature of 130-135 degrees F (use a meat thermometer).
- Serve: Enjoy these steak bites over some cooked rice with the roasted broccoli and drizzle of the remaining teriyaki sauce!
Notes
