How To Make Simple Syrup
Put the water and sugar in a sauce pan and bring to a simmer. Whisk or stir fairly continuously as the water warms and the sugar dissolves. The water just needs to be warm, not hot, for the sugar to dissolve.

Once dissolved, remove from the heat and let the clear syrup cool to room temperature. Transfer to a mason jar or another sealable container.

Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
Instructions
- Add water and sugar to a medium-sized saucepan.
- Bring to a medium-low heat and whisk or stir continuously as the water warms and the sugar dissolves – you don’t need the water very hot, just warm.
- As soon as the sugar dissolves completely, remove from heat and let cool.
- Transfer to a mason jar or other sealable container.

- Simple Syrup Ratio: the ratio here is equal parts water and granulated sugar, so feel free to make a bigger batch (or smaller batch) as-needed.
- Rich Simple Syrup: it has a ratio of 2:1 sugar to water – so if you need extra-sweet simple syrup, feel free to make this kind. Rich simple syrup also stores a bit longer – approx. 6 months in the refrigerator (less if stored on the counter).
