- store-bought crescent rolls: there are so many options out there (including gluten-free, organic, etc.) – buy whatever works best for you! You could even get a refrigerated pizza dough or puff pastry.
- optional: add some candy eyes as a fun addition to these crescent mummy dogs!
- dipping sauce: we love ketchup, but mustard, homemade bbq sauce or hot mustard work too.
How To Make Mummy Hot Dogs
The first steps to making this easy recipe are to grab some high-quality hot dogs (like these ones from True Story!).
Now pop that tube of refrigerated crescent down and unroll on your work surface. Find the seams and press perforations to create a flat dough sheet.
Use a pizza cutter or sharp knife to cut the dough into ¼ inch thin strips. Wrap 2-3 strips of dough around each hot dog too look like a mummy.
Place wrapped hot dogs on an ungreased cookie sheet. Option to line the sheet pan with parchment paper, if you want. Option to add a small slice of cheese (if you want) under the wrapped dough. Bake mummy hotdogs at 375 degrees F for about 10-12 minutes or until light golden brown.
Remove and let these little guys cool slightly. Place two candy eyeballs on each adorable Halloween treat (if you want).
Best Way To Serve Mummy Hot Dogs
These easy mummy hot dogs are best served with any of your favorite dipping sauces. A few of our favorites are traditional ketchup, honey mustard, or barbecue sauce! Feel free to enjoy them any way you want.
Recipe FAQs and Tips
- Can I make mummy dogs in advance? You can definitely make this hot dog mummies recipe a couple hours ahead of time or even the night before but that crescent dough does tend to get a little weird if you let them hang in the fridge for too long.
- Storage: after they have been cooked, you can keep them in an airtight container in the fridge for the next 3-4 days. Simply reheat in the microwave.
