What You Will Need
- large potatoes – highly recommend using russet potatoes for a traditional baked potato but this easy method would work for any type of potato, even sweet potatoes.
- olive oil – rubbing some oil on the potato skin helps it get slightly crispy.
- kosher salt – everything is always better with a sprinkling of salt!
How To Make Slow Cooker Baked Potatoes
The first steps to making this easy recipe are to gather the 3 basic ingredients.
Now, rinse the potatoes under cold water and dry with paper towels. Rub the outside of each potato with a little olive oil and sprinkle on the salt and pepper (if desired). Place them in the bottom of your slow cooker, cover, and let them cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 7-8 hours. Exact cooking times will vary depending on the size of the potatoes.
Pro Tip
If you prefer a crispy potato skin on the outside, feel free to place the baked potatoes on a baking sheet and put them under the broiler in the oven for a minute or two. Watch carefully!

- What types of potatoes can I make using this cooking process? We used russet or Idaho potatoes, but feel free to use a yukon gold potato or red potatoes to make your perfect baked potato. Just adjust cook times accordingly until they are fork tender.
