Cheeseburger Egg Rolls FAQs
Cheeseburger egg rolls are made from a cheesy meat mixture that is rolled into an egg roll wrapper and cooked in an air fryer or fried in a skillet on the stove top.
Any side dish that would normally be served with cheeseburgers would be excellent. Homemade baked french fries, potato chips, creamy coleslaw, or a dill pickle potato salad would pair perfectly.
Yes! Ground beef works wonderfully in egg rolls. We’ve even used corned beef in our corned beef and cabbage egg rolls, which worked wonderfully as well.
Our homemade burger sauce adds the best flavor to these cheeseburger egg rolls, but plain condiments such as ketchup and/or mustard would work as well.

Ingredients
Burger Sauce:
- ยฝ cup mayonnaise
- ยผ cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon dill pickles, chopped
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- ยฝ teaspoon rice vinegar
- ยฝ teaspoon garlic powder
- ยผ teaspoon paprika
- โ teaspoon ground black pepper
Cheeseburger Egg Rolls:
- ยฝ tablespoon butter, regular or plant-based butter
- ยฝ sweet yellow onion, diced
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 1 pound ground beef
- ยฝ teaspoon kosher salt
- ยผ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 4 bacon slices, pre-cooked & chopped
- ยผ cup dill pickles, chopped
- 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
- 10 egg roll wrappers
Instructions
- Make Sauce: Put all of the burger sauce ingredients in a small bowl and mix to combine. Set aside.
- Cook Filling: Bring a large cast iron skillet to a medium-high heat. Add ยฝ tablespoon butter to the pan; swirl to coat. Add the onion and 1 teaspoon garlic. Move around to soften for 1-2 minutes. Add 1 pound ground beef and season with ยฝ teaspoon kosher salt & ยผ teaspoon ground black pepper. Break apart and move around the pan to fully brown.
- Other Filling Ingredients: Remove the ground beef mixture from the heat, add the cooked bacon pieces, chopped pickles, and shredded cheese. Mix to combine and let the cheese melt.
- Wrap Egg Rolls: Place one egg roll on a plate or cutting board (so that one corner is pointing to you) and add about โ cup of the filling mixture in the middle of the wrapper. Fold in the side corners of the wrapper. Grab the corner closest to you and fold it over the filling, rolling the egg roll away from you. Put a very small amount of water on the edge of the corner farthest from you to help the egg roll stay closed. Repeat this process with the remaining wrappers and filling mixture.
- Air Fry: Spray the air fryer basket with a non-stick cooking spray and preheat at 350โ for a few minutes. Then place egg rolls in the basket (seam-side down) and either lightly brush with olive oil or give them a quick spray with the cooking spray. Try to keep them from touching in the basket (this will need to be done in batches). Cook at 350โ for 5 minutes, flip, and continue cooking for another 4 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve: Enjoy right away with some of the burger sauce for dipping!
Notes
- Stove Top: To cook these egg rolls on the stovetop, heat about 2 inches of a neutral oil in a pot or deep skillet until it reaches 350 degrees F (use a candy or meat thermometer to track the temp).
- Dairy-Free: use plant-based butter and a dairy-free cheddar cheese alternative.
- Gluten-Free: use gluten-free egg roll wrappers.
