Key Ingredient
- bacon – any variety of bacon will work here, regular, thick-cut, etc. Just be sure to check the ingredients for Paleo/Whole30.
Best to Use Parchment Paper or Aluminum Foil?
After various tests, we found that parchment paper works best! Sometimes the bacon can stick to parts of the foil, so if you do plan to go with that one be sure to use some non-stick cooking spray before laying down the bacon.

How Long Does it Take to Bake Bacon at 400
We cooked our bacon for about 18-20 minutes, but if you prefer your bacon a little less crispy you can start checking it around 15-16 minutes. And if you like it more crispy than it is at 20 minutes you can keep baking it while checking it every minute or so until it reaches your desired crispness.

What Can I Make With Cooked Bacon
As mentioned before, cooked bacon is amazing so you could add it to just about anything! Add it to a sandwich, a burger, toss some on a salad or add it to any other favorite recipe. We love it in Baked Egg Cups, on a Loaded Baked Potato, on a Sourdough Grilled BLT, Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadillas, or a Seven Layer Salad!

Storage & Freezer
Once it has cooled, store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. This is perfect for prepping bacon ahead of time! Or store it in the freezer for up to 3 months. When you are ready to thaw your bacon, just place it in the fridge and it will be good in there for up to 5 days.

Description
How to Bake Bacon in the Oven is a simple, step-by-step tutorial that teaches you how to cook bacon in the oven! So easy & less messy!
Ingredients
- 8 pieces of uncooked bacon
Instructions
- Prep: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Place a piece of parchment on top of a large baking sheet.
- Bake: Lay strips of bacon down on the parchment paper, ensure they aren’t overlapping. Place in oven, middle rack, for 18-20 minutes. If you like your bacon softer, start checking it around 15-16 minutes as some ovens cook faster than others. If the bacon isn’t crispy enough for your liking after 20 minutes, simply continue cooking in 1-2 minute increments until you have reached your desired crispness. Remove and let cool.
- Serve: Enjoy right away or store in the fridge for later!
Notes
- Crispier: option to place a wire rack on top of the rimmed baking sheet and then place the bacon on top of that before baking. This lifts the bacon out of the rendered fat and lets the heat circulate to result in a crispier piece of bacon.
- Thickness: a thick cut bacon will require a longer cook time than regular bacon, but it also tends to retain more flavor.
- Storage: keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
