Such an easy recipe!

What You Will Need
- jasmine rice – we typically grab brown jasmine rice at our local grocery store, but you can also use white jasmine rice. Just grab the type of rice that works for you!
- broth or water – option to use chicken broth, turkey broth, vegetable broth, or just pour in a cup of water if you don’t have any broth on hand.
- kosher salt – just a pinch, but may not be necessary if you are using broth.
Instant Pot Rice-to-Water Ratio
According to the official Instant Pot website and their Guide to Cooking Rice in the Instant Pot, you should really always be able to use a 1-to-1 ratio of rice to water. That being said, I really have come to like using 1 cup rice with about 1 1/4 cup water just because I prefer my rice more on the al dente side. In other words, I like my rice just perfectly cooked and definitely not mushy rice. So if that’s your preference, just pull back on the water amount!
How To Cook Jasmine Rice In The Instant Pot
To begin this easy process, measure out the cups of rice that you need and give it a rinse using a fine mesh strainer. Place the rinsed rice in the Instant Pot pressure cooker with the broth or water and give it a mix with a large spoon. Seal the lid on top and cook the rice on the high pressure cook setting for 17 minutes. Let the natural pressure release for 10 minutes and then manually release the rest of the pressure according the manufacturer’s instructions. The result is perfect jasmine rice!
Do I Have To Rinse The Rice
We highly recommend rinsing the rice with cold water because it helps remove some of the excess starch that will otherwise soak up water and there are droplets of water that stick to the rice and help with the cooking process. If you skip the rinsing part, the recipe might be thrown off and you may not have enough water to correctly cook your rice! If you choose to do that, add in an extra tablespoon or two of water to the pot.
How To Cook White Jasmine Rice In The Instant Pot
Follow almost all of the same process that is described for the brown jasmine rice. Rinse the white rice, pour in the Instant Pot with broth or water, cook on high pressure for 7 minutes, naturally release the pressure for 10 minutes, and then manually release the remaining pressure. So the only difference between this and brown rice is the cook time – 7 minutes vs. 17 minutes.
Best Ways To Serve Instant Pot Jasmine Rice
Let us count the ways! This is the perfect side dish recipe that can really go with anything! We love using this fluffy rice as the base for our Soy Ginger Salmon Rice Bowls or a Steak Fajita Bowl. It’s also great with a Shrimp Stir Fry, Teriyaki Salmon, or keep it really simple and make an Avocado + Brown Rice Bowl! It goes with so many of our favorite recipes!
