What Is Jalapeño Ranch
Exactly what it sounds like, folks. A creamy midwestern classic with just a touch of heat. And just know that the spice level can be controlled by starting with just half of a jalapeño, and then adding more as desired. It’s a spin on our herby ranch dressing with a few less herbs and a bit more spice.

Key Ingredients & Substitutions
- sour cream:This recipe will work with a dairy-free variety
- jalapeño: Since we instruct to remove the seeds and membrane, this dressing really is mild when it comes to the heat level.
- fresh cilantro: Feel free to omit if cilantro tastes more soapy than fresh.
How To Make Jalapeño Ranch

Ways To Use Jalapeño Ranch
If you’re anything like me, ranch is a staple condiment that can be used on anything from salads, to pizzas, to rice bowls. This jalapeño ranch dip was made specifically for our delicious chicken bacon ranch quesadillas as the flavors balance each other perfectly. But you could always slather it over our homemade chicken nuggets or our baked fish nuggets. Use it more as a dressing on our BBQ Chicken Salad or our Tex Mex Salad. If you’re using it as a sauce, it’s a safe bet on our Blackstone chicken tacos or our grilled steak tacos.
Recipe FAQs and Tips
- How spicy is homemade jalapeño ranch? Because we remove the seeds and membrane, this recipe really isn’t that spicy. I mean, we’re from the midwest if that tells you anything about our tolerance for heat.
- Do I need to remove the seeds from the jalapeños? I guess you don’t have to, but your ranch will be exponentially more spicy if you leave them in.
- Can I roast or char the jalapeños first for more flavor? Absolutely! However, this will add more time to the process.
