What You Will Need
- ground turkey – we love using this lean meat, but feel free to grab ground beef or ground chicken from your local grocery store.
- sharp cheddar cheese – cut some into small pieces and shred some for the topping!
- white onion & frozen butter – simply shred both of these ingredients to keep the meatballs juicy and tender. Nobody likes dried out meatballs!
- breadcrumbs – the binding agent to help hold everything together.
- mayo – just a little bit to also keep the meatballs from drying out.
- fresh garlic – everything is always better with some minced garlic in the mix.
- salt and pepper – simple seasonings that are always a must!
- olive oil – drizzle some in the pan to help sear the meatballs to a nice, golden brown.
How To Make Turkey Cheddar Meatballs
The first steps to making this easy recipe are to gather all of the basic ingredients.

Put all of the meatball ingredients in a large bowl and mix to combine. Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the meat mixture at a time and roll into a meatball. Continue this process until all of the meatballs are formed.
Pro Tip
Highly recommend using a cookie dough scoop or ice cream scoop to scoop up the mixture, keeping the meatballs uniform in size.

Now bring a large skillet to a medium heat and add some olive oil to coat the bottom of the pan. Add the meatballs to sear the outside. Continue moving them around the pan and drop the heat slightly until they have reached an internal temperature of 165 degrees F (use a meat thermometer). Then sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top, remove from the heat, and let it sit for a few minutes to melt the cheese.

Best Ways To Serve Turkey Cheddar Meatballs
There are a variety of different ways to serve this turkey meatball recipe! We love enjoying them on some cooked rice with a side of steamed broccoli. Simple and delicious. You could also make oven roasted green beans or air fryer asparagus!

Storage
Leftover meatballs can be store in an airtight container in the fridge for 4-5 days. Simply warm in the microwave when ready to eat.

Description
Our tender and cheesy Turkey Cheddar Meatball recipe is the perfect family-friendly meal that everyone is going to love!
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/3 – 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese, cut into small chunks
- 1/4 cup white onion, shredded & moisture squeezed out
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons frozen butter, shredded
- 1 tablespoon mayo
- 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil, (for cooking, not added to the meatball mixture)
- for topping: 1/2 – 3/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- for serving (optional): cooked rice of your choice + steamed broccoli
Instructions
- Make Meatballs: Put all of the meatball ingredients (except the olive oil) in a large bowl and mix to fully combine. For best results, use your hands to do the mixing. Scoop 1 tablespoon of the meatball mixture and roll into a meatball (recommend using a cookie dough scoop for this). Continue this process with the remaining meatball mixture until all the meatballs are formed.
- Cook Meatballs: Bring a large cast iron skillet to a medium-high heat and add the olive oil to coat the bottom of the pan. Add the meatballs to the hot pan and move around to sear the outsides. Drop the heat a little bit and continue cooking meatballs until their internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F (use a meat thermometer) – we used a spatula to keep moving them around the pan, while they finished cooking.
- Topping: Right before serving, sprinkle the shredded cheese topping on the meatballs and let it sit for a few minutes to melt.
- Serve: Enjoy immediately with your favorite side dishes!
Notes
- Dairy Free: use a plant-based butter and dairy-free alternative for the cheddar cheese.
- Gluten Free: simply use gluten-free breadcrumbs.
- Turkey: feel free to sub in ground beef or ground chicken, if you want!
- Storage: leftover meatballs can be kept in an airtight container in the fridge for 4-5 days.
