Hard boiling an egg might seem intimidating at first, but it is actually super simple! Dare I even say that it is fool-proof. This very easy-to-follow tutorial will take you through everything you need to know about hard boiling eggs on the stove top.
What You Will Need
- raw eggs – these can be fresh from the coop or you pick-up your favorite eggs from the local grocery store.
- water – just enough to cover the eggs in the pot.
How Long Does It Take To Hard Boil An Egg On The Stove
The total cook time will be about 10 minutes, but you will also want to make sure you let them cool for about 5-10 minutes before peeling off the shell.
Storing Hard Boiled Eggs
After they have cooked you can keep the hard boiled eggs at room temperature for about 2 hours. Then you will want to store them in the refrigerator. Personally, we place them back in the egg carton for easy storage and place a small letter ‘x’ on the top of the egg’s shell so that we know which ones are hard boiled. They will stay good in the fridge for up to 1 week.

How To Make Hard Boiled Eggs On The Stove Top
Place your eggs in a medium saucepan.
Pour in enough water to completely cover the eggs.
Bring the water to a boil and then immediately drop the temp to simmer the eggs for 10 minutes.
Remove the eggs carefully with a slotted spoon and place them in an ice bath.
After they have cooled for about 5-10 minutes you can peel them under running water.

Instructions
- Place eggs in a medium sauce pan.
- Cover with water (you will want about an inch of water above the eggs.
- Place on the stove top.
- Bring the water to a boil. As soon as the water boils reduce the heat to simmer the water and set a timer for 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and carefully transfer eggs to an ice bath.
- Let eggs cool for 5-10 minutes.
- Either wipe off and store in the fridge until use or peel under running water.
Notes
- Storage: you can keep them in the fridge for up to 1 week. Make sure you label them so they don’t get mixed up with raw eggs!
