Be sure to see the recipe card below for a full listing of ingredients, instructions, and estimated nutritional information.

- Bone-In Ham: this was tested using a bone-in ham. Feel free to use a boneless ham, spiral ham, or other variety. Just be sure to watch the internal temperature, because cook times will vary.
- Orange Marmalade: my secret ingredient for bringing maximum citrus flavor to the ham glaze.
- Butter + Brown Sugar: essential ingredients to bring a touch of sweetness and flavor!
How To Make An Orange Glazed Ham (Step-by-Step)

Step 1 – Mix up the marmalade glaze.

Step 2 – Use a knife to score the outside of the ham.
Pro Tip – Score the Ham
Simply use a sharp knife to make a 1 inch deep vertical cuts across the ham and then do the same to make horizontal cuts the other direction (it will look like a checker board). This allows the glaze to penetrate the skin and reach more of the meat.

Step 3 – Place ham in the slow cooker with orange juice and baste.

Step 4 – Cover and slow cook on LOW for 4 hours.

Step 5 – Baste the ham again before carving and serving.
Best Ways To Serve An Orange Glazed Ham
- Meal Prep – use the cooked ham to make scalloped ham and potatoes, easy ham and cheese sliders, or add to your breakfast with ham and egg cups!
- Holiday Table – enjoy with Yukon gold mashed potatoes, a fresh green bean casserole, sweet potato au gratin, and a fresh carrot salad.
- Sunday Supper – make it into a family dinner on Sunday night with an easy oven baked potato and garlic green beans. Then enjoy the leftovers all week long.

Optional Orange Juice Injection
- After using my meat injector on a turkey several times, I decided to try it in this ham recipe. The result was the most juicy and flavorful ham I have ever tasted!
- Simply add your favorite orange juice into the injector, insert in the ham, and inject some of the juice. Pull out, move to another spot, and repeat until the syringe of orange juice is used. Cook according to the recipe card below.

Ingredients
- 6 pound bone-in ham
- ¾ cup orange marmalade
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted (sub plant-based butter)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- ¼ cup orange juice
Instructions
- Score Ham: Place a 6 pound bone-in ham on a plate. Use a paring knife to score the outer skin crisscross (be careful not to cut all the way down into the meat). Set aside.
- Make Glaze: In a small bowl, add ¾ cup orange marmalade, melted butter, and 2 tablespoons brown sugar. Mix to combine and set aside.
- Optional Injection: If you have a meat injector, option to fill it with a ¼ cup orange juice and insert it directly into several spots in the ham before cooking.
- Slow Cooker: Add ¼ cup orange juice to the slow cooker and then place the ham inside. Brush half of the glaze on the outside of the ham and reserve the rest for later. Cover and cook on the LOW setting for 4 hours.
- Final Glaze: Transfer the ham from the slow cooker to a platter and brush on the remaining glaze (note: if your glaze has congealed a bit feel free to pop in the microwave or warm in a small saucepan to soften again). If you prefer a more crisp skin, place the ham on a sheet pan, brush with the glaze, and broil in the oven for a couple minutes.
- Serve: Let the ham rest for 5 minutes, carve and serve!
Notes
- Size of Ham: this is a very flexible recipe so it will work even if your ham is a little smaller or a little bigger. I generally use a 6-7lb. ham, but I definitely tend to use a 6lb ham if I am using a slow cooker just so it fits properly.
- Dairy-Free: simply use a plant-based butter.
- Optional Injection: to add even more flavor and juiciness to your ham, use a meat injector to add orange juice directly into the ham in several spots before cooking.
- Oven Baked Method: if you prefer to bake your ham, simply place the 1 cup orange juice + 2 cups vegetable broth in a roasting pan, place the ham inside on a roasting rack, brush with half the glaze and cover loosely with foil, and bake at 325 degrees F for 18-24 minutes per pound or until the ham reaches an internal temperature of 140 degrees F. Approx. 10 minutes before the ham is done brush on the remaining glaze – feel free to pop under the broiler for the last 1-2 minutes.
