Our whole family has been enjoying this homemade taco dip recipe for years. We knew it was time to share it with all of you! It is quite possibly the easiest appetizer that you will ever make. You only need 3 basic ingredients as the base and then your favorite taco toppings you can adjust to your personal preferences. This taco dip with cream cheese has always been a huge hit with our family and friends and we know it will be with yours too!

What You Will Need
- sour cream – option to use our dairy-free sour cream, a regular store-bought version, or sub with some plain Greek yogurt.
- cream cheese – just pick-up your favorite variety from the local grocery store! Leave out at room temperature to make sure it is nice and soft.
- taco seasoning – we always have some of our own homemade taco seasoning in the pantry or grab a packet of taco seasoning from the store.
- shredded cheese – Colby Jack cheese is shown in the photos, but any variety of cheese will work here, cheddar cheese, Mexican cheese, monterey jack, dairy-free cheese, etc.
- fresh tomatoes, black olives, & chopped green onions – highly recommend these toppings for your creamy taco dip, but feel free to add more/less or sub with other topping options.
How To Make Taco Dip
The first steps to making this classic recipe are to gather all of the simple ingredients for this easy taco dip recipe.

Place the sour cream, softened cream cheese, and taco seasoning in a large bowl. Mix until fully combined. Spread cream cheese mixture in an even layer on the bottom of a serving dish. We used a shallow baking dish.
Pro Tip
To get a really smooth texture, feel free to use an electric hand mixer or stand mixer to fully combine the base of this dip.

Now cover the top of the dip with your desired fresh toppings. Serve with your favorite tortilla chips or pita chips.

Description

Ingredients
- 1 cup sour cream (reg. or dairy-free)
- 8oz cream cheese, room temp (reg. or dairy-free)
- 1oz packet taco seasoning
- 2 cups colby jack cheese, shredded
- 1 cup roma tomatoes, diced
- 1/2 cup black olives, sliced
- 1/4 cup green onions, sliced
Instructions
- In a medium bowl combine sour cream, cream cheese and taco seasoning. Stir to combine if cream cheese is soft enough, otherwise use an electric hand mixer to combine until smooth.
- Place in the bottom of a small casserole dish (I used a 10.5″ x 7.5″) and spread out evenly.
- Top with shredded cheese, tomato, olives and green onion.
Notes
- Topping Amounts: of course, use more/less of the suggested toppings, per your liking.
- Other Topping Ideas: shredded lettuce, jalapeños, etc. are all great additions – feel free to make it your own!
