Why I Keep Making This Recipe

I’ve been making some version of this salad for years—honestly, probably 20 at this point. It’s one of those recipes that:
- works for a quick lunch
- feels special enough for guests
- uses simple ingredients I almost always have on hand
- And the biggest reason? It hits that perfect balance—sweet berries + tangy dressing + creamy cheese + crunch—that just never gets old.

Variations: Take it to the Next Level
This strawberry blueberry salad recipe is delicious as-is, but if you are looking to substitute something or add a little more we have some great options for you:
- protein – to bring this from a side salad to a main dish we suggest adding some air fryer chicken breasts, perfectly grilled steak, or smoked chicken breasts!
- fresh fruit and vegetables – we love adding some avocado & mandarin oranges.
- nuts – crunchy pecans would also be delicious or add a little more sweetness with candied walnuts.
- cheese – feta cheese, goat cheese, or blue cheese would make a great addition for this spinach strawberry salad recipe.

- We love to serve this easy spinach salad with balsamic dressing for so many different special occasions. It is the perfect side dish for an Easter crockpot ham, a summer cookout with grilled burgers, Christmas dinner with standing rib roast, Thanksgiving dinner with a grilled turkey, basically any time we have a large family gathering!
- When serving this easy summer salad as the main course, we love to toss a protein on top and then add a slice of easy grilled bread on the side.

Make Ahead + Storage

- Store dressing separately
- Add nuts + dressing just before serving
- Best eaten same day once dressed
Recipe FAQs
Yes! We wanted to show you how easy it can be to make one at home but you can absolutely skip that and buy one from the local grocery stores. We love Primal Kitchen’s balsamic vinaigrette! And if you aren’t necessarily concerned with Whole30/paleo, I also love throwing some creamy poppyseed dressing on this salad!
Definitely! All of the fresh ingredients can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge. I would just hold off on the dressing until you are ready to eat the salad, otherwise it might get a bit soggy. If you add a protein, I would also keep that in separate containers until you are ready to eat.
