- Apple Cider – highly recommend using apple cider or apple juice in place of the typical pineapple juice to make the best Instant Pot ham!
- Ham Glaze – my super simple 3-ingredient ham glaze is the perfect addition to any ham.
How To Make Instant Pot Ham (no pineapple)

Step 1 – Score the outside skin of the ham with a paring knife.

Step 2 – Place on the trivet in the IP with water and apple cider. Cook on high pressure.
Best Liquids to Use when Cooking Ham
Most people cook their ham with pineapple or pineapple juice, but I’m here to tell you that you should use apple cider or apple juice instead! It adds so much flavor and moisture for the most tender ham!

Step 3 – Mix up the glaze while the ham cooks.

Step 4 – Release the pressure, brush on the glaze, and serve!

Instant Pot Ham FAQs
This recipe used a bone-in, precooked ham, but you could easily use a spiral-sliced ham or a boneless, precooked ham.
Remove the ham from the Instant Pot, place it on a large baking sheet, brush on the glaze, and then put it under the oven broiler for 1-2 minutes until it becomes tacky.
Yes, leftover ham can be stored in a freezer-safe container and frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge when ready to use.

Ingredients
Instant Pot Ham:
- 5-6 pound pre-cooked, bone-in ham
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup apple cider, or apple juice
3 Ingredient Ham Glaze:
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
Instructions
- Prep Ham: Place a 5-6 pound pre-cooked, bone-in ham on a plate and score with a paring knife.
- Prep Instant Pot: Add 1 cup water and ½ cup apple cider to the Instant Pot; place trivet inside. Move the ham to the Instant Pot and place on the trivet.
- Cook Ham: Cover and seal Instant Pot. Cook on HIGH pressure for 12 minutes and then let naturally release for 10 minutes. Carefully release remaining pressure manually according to manufacturer's instructions.
- Glaze: In a small bowl, mix together ¼ cup brown sugar, 3 tablespoons butter, and 1 teaspoon dijon mustard. Taste and add any flavors, as desired. Remove ham from Instant Pot and brush all over with glaze – option to place under broiler after you brush on glaze for a minute or two (watch carefully so it doesn't burn) if you want the glaze to firm up and become tacky.
- Serve: Slice and serve immediately.
Notes
- Apple Cider: do NOT use apple cider vinegar – this recipe calls for apple cider.
- Ham Gravy: feel free to use any leftover liquid to make some homemade ham gravy.
- Serving Suggestions: serve with easy green bean casserole, cheesy green been casserole, cheesy scalloped potatoes or a basic house salad.
- Storage: any leftover ham can be store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
