How To Make Instant Pot Jasmine Rice (white or brown) – a simple tutorial that teaches you how to successfully make jasmine rice in the Instant Pot!
Ingredients

- 1 cup jasmine rice (brown or white)
- 1 cup + 1/8 cup broth or water
- pinch of kosher salt
Instructions
Brown Jasmine Rice:
- Rinse rice with water (must do this step to remove extra starch).
- Place 1 1/8 cups water (or broth) in Instant Pot (no trivet needed) along with rinsed rice and pinch of salt.
- Mix to ensure rice is submerged and there aren’t any stray pieces of rice sticking to the sides.
- Close Instant Pot, cook on HIGH pressure for 17 minutes.
- Allow Instant Pot to naturally release for 10 minutes and then quick release remaining pressure according to manufacturer’s instructions.
- Rice should be slightly chewy and fully cooked.
White Jasmine Rice:
- Rinse rice with water (must do this step to remove extra starch).
- Place 1 1/8 cups water (or broth) in Instant Pot (no trivet needed) along with rinsed rice and pinch of salt.
- Mix to ensure rice is submerged and there aren’t any stray pieces of rice sticking to the sides.
- Close Instant Pot, cook on HIGH pressure for 7 minutes.
- Allow Instant Pot to naturally release for 10 minutes and then quick release remaining pressure according to manufacturer’s instructions.
- Rice should be slightly chewy and fully cooked.
Notes
- This recipe was developed in a 6qt Instant Pot Duo; always follow manufacturer’s instructions when operating your Instant Pot.
- Chewy: If you want your rice more chewy and not as cooked, reduce cooking time by 2 minutes.
- Fluffy: If you want your rice very cooked and fluffy, cook for an additional 2 minutes and add an additional 1/8 cup water.
- Storage: store leftover rice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
- Add Flavor: option to add some coconut milk to the pot to make the most delicious 5 ingredient coconut rice!
