What You Will Need
- boneless skinless chicken breasts – we like picking fresh chicken breasts up from our local grocery store or butcher shop.
- kosher salt & ground black pepper – simple seasonings that are always a must when cooking meat.
- fresh aromatics – we used slices of fresh oranges and lemon, plus some sprigs of rosemary.
- ghee – to keep it Whole30/Paleo compliant use ghee or you can use olive oil or butter!
How To Cook Sous Vide Chicken
To begin making this easy chicken recipe, generously season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
How To Season Sous Vide Chicken Breasts
We kept this recipe card simple, but you can season your chicken however you want! We used rosemary, citrus fruits, ghee and salt/pepper. But you can use a chicken dry rub, buffalo sauce, etc.! It is a great way to use whatever you have laying around!
Place the seasoned chicken breasts in a FoodSaver bag with or without fresh fruit slices and fresh herbs. Seal the bag with your FoodSaver Preservation System and place in the fridge.
Fill a large pot with water and use your sous vide to bring it to 150 degrees F. Once it reaches that temp, submerge the bag of chicken in the water. Allow the chicken to cook for 1.5-4 hours.
After the chicken has fully cooked, you can remove it from the bag and either serve immediately or give them a quick sear in a cast iron skillet. Searing the chicken will give them a nicely browned outside.

Meal Prep Chicken Ideas
When buying groceries, many times we buy our chicken breasts in bulk (so much cheaper that way) and then we divide up the chicken breasts into meal-sized quantities (usually about 4 chicken breasts). Then we toss the chicken into along with some aromatics (rosemary, thyme, etc), fat (olive oil or ghee), and season the chicken with salt and pepper. Then place it in the fridge for later in the week or put it in the freezer. When ready to cook, just grab a pre-packaged bag of chicken and cook it Sous Vide! You can cook it from frozen or fresh, doesn’t matter! Cooking with a Sous Vide allows you to control your cooking temp with exact precision – it is seriously so cool.
